Project OverviewI
In 2025, MASTERWAY successfully delivered and installed 20 urban bus shelters along a major roadway in Kenya.
The structural components were fully manufactured by MASTERWAY, while all poster content inside the lightboxes was provided and replaced by the client, mainly for environmental and community public-awareness campaigns.
Client Challenges
During the initial phase, the local municipal and transit authorities highlighted four key challenges:
High structural strength to withstand wind pressure and turbulence from passing heavy vehicles
Strong weather resistance, suitable for intense UV exposure, heat and rainy seasons
Low maintenance requirements, due to limited municipal manpower
Lightbox system must allow quick poster replacement for public-awareness messaging
MASTERWAY Solutions
1. High-Strength Galvanized Steel Structure
Engineered for Africa’s harsh climate conditions—heat, UV radiation, and seasonal rain—offering a lifespan of 10–15 years.
2. Quick-Change Lightbox System
Designed with an accessible front frame, allowing the client to easily replace posters for environmental or community campaigns.
3. Extended Canopy Design
Provides a larger shaded area, improving comfort for passengers waiting at the stop.
4. Modular Knock-Down Design
Optimized for container loading and fast on-site installation, minimizing disruption to traffic and pedestrians.
Technical Highlights
Outdoor anti-corrosion coating (10–15 years durability)
Energy-efficient LED lightbox system (client-managed posters)
Safety side panels with integrated seating
Wind resistance rating of 25–32 m/s
Knock-down (KD) structure ideal for international shipping
On-site Installation Highlights
From the project photos, the shelters demonstrate:
Client-provided posters promoting environmental protection and community values
A clean and organized pedestrian walkway environment
A modern, durable, and stable steel structure
Comfortable seating and a wide canopy suitable for local conditions
Client Feedback
During project acceptance, the client commented:“The shelters are very sturdy, and the lightbox system allows us to replace poster content easily. It significantly enhances the overall appearance of our city streets.”
